What type of interpreting do you need?
Before contacting us, consider whether you need the interpreter on site, whether you can use an interpreter by phone, or whether you have the video equipment required for interpreting over the internet. The price may depend on which solution you choose. If the language you need help with is less common, video or telephone interpreting may be the only available solution when the nearest interpreter is far away. The majority of the assignments Auktorisering.se delivers are on-site interpreting.
When you need an interpreter on site
If you want an interpreter present in person, on-site interpreting is what you should choose. For on-site interpreting you need to know the geographical/physical conditions for the assignment. On-site interpreting is often used at meetings of a more commercial nature or at meetings with the authorities — often legal ones — but also at doctor's appointments.
Should the interpreting take place online? Then video interpreting is an option
With video interpreting you can easily get in touch with an interpreter. When the assignment is due to take place, you can use the platform of your choice to establish contact, and the interpreter will then join the meeting. Please note that with video interpreting there must be time for the interpreter to interpret after each participant has spoken a few sentences. Many of our clients choose video interpreting when the logistics would mean too much travel time for the interpreter. Video interpreting is often used for less common languages, including Asian and African languages.
Book a telephone interpreter
It is possible to book a telephone interpreter at short notice, which makes it a very popular solution. Telephone interpreting is also often the preferred option if the assignment is very short — that is, if it lasts less than half an hour.
What is the difference between consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting and whispered
Consecutive interpreting is a summary and not always a word-for-word rendering of what the meeting participant says, and it is delivered after a few sentences. Simultaneous interpreting is a continuous, rendering
interpretation into the target language of what is being said. In whispered interpreting, the intslation to the recipient.
Consecutive interpreting (the most common option)
Consecutive interpreting is the most common interpreting method. In consecutive interpreens to what is being said and then conveys it to the recipient, who receives it in as much detailas possible. This form of interpreting requires that the interpreter is given the room (time) needed to render what is said.
Simultaneous interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting is often used for conference interpreting. Simultaneous interpreting is performed at the same time as the meeting participant speaks. Interpreting equipment and interpreting facilities
are often used for simultaneous interpreting. Interpreters who perform simultaneous interpreting und, as this type of interpreting requires particular expertise. Interpreting is done into theinterpreter's native language, and an interpreter works for a maximum of 15 minutes at a time. If the assignment takes more than 30 minutes, another interpreter must take over. If it lasts all day, several interpreters
must be used. The equipment most commonly used is a headset with a microphone for the interpretersteners — and possibly an interpreting booth/an enclosed room.
Whispered interpreting
In whispered interpreting, the interpreter whispers what is being said into the ear of t needs the interpreter. Whispered interpreting is often the recommended option at events where only one person needs interpreting.
Rate for preparation
Most of the time no preparation is needed for an interpreting assignment. One form of preparation could be the interpreter arriving 15 minutes early to familiarise themselves with the venue. This will be charged
(and you will be informed of it in advance). For assignments covering complicated subjects that re, the interpreter must prepare. The preparation fee usually amounts to half the price of theinterpreting.
Important information about travel
When you book on-site interpreting, it takes the interpreter time to travel to and from the location where the assignment takes place. A maximum of half an hour of transport is counted as travel time, and the
price is half the hourly rate for the interpreting.
